Knights who say “niche!”

Introducing my new line of ultra-niche accessories I’m calling M!N!M!M.  These very specific controllers were born from two recent concurrent events:

1. I got the new DOD™ Drag delay
2. I wanted to build a mini pedalboard

Once I started down the path of #2, I realized that the stock controllers and channel switchers I had were way too big.  I also realized that with the Drag in specific, the only thing I cared about controlling externally was tap tempo/oscillation, and I didn’t want a giant controller for just that one feature.  So I built some mini controllers designed to fit either in front of pedals or in random small open spaces.  I built these initially just for myself and my personal (elusive) Holy Grail: The One Trip Load In, but I realized that others might find them handy too.  What I came up with are the following:

Pulse!

This is a single foot switch built specifically to access tap tempo on the DOD™ Drag™.  It has both 1/4” and 1/8” jacks in parallel so you can either use the 1/4” to 1/8” adapter that comes with the Drag™, or commonly found 1/8” to 1/8” cables.  The laser-etched graphics on the Pulse! are inspired by the Chrysler building capstone.  The Pulse! will also work with the Rubberneck™ but it controls instant Rubbernecking™ instead of tap-tempo.

Tr!ple

This is a 3-button foot switch designed to function exactly like much, much larger stock TRS controllers.  It was meant to control either the Rubberneck™ or the Drag™, but it will also control other compatible passive TRS pedals.  The laser-etched graphics on the Tr!ple are inspired by Art Deco wallpaper patterns.  The Tr!ple has 1/4” and 1/8” TRS outputs in parallel so you can choose which size cable you want to use.

Tr!ple L

This is the same as the Tr!ple described above except in one very important aspect.  The marked foot switch that controls the delay oscillation on the Rubberneck™ is Latching.  This has both positive and negative aspects.  When this switch is engaged the Rubberneck™ goes into oscillation and stays in oscillation until the switch is pressed again.  When the oscillation controls on the Rubberneck™ are balanced properly you can conjure up live repeating loop-like oscillations without having to keep your foot on the switch.  Due to the nature of a latching switch in this configuration, once it is engaged all the other switches on the Tr!ple are defeated.  But you can still control Rubbernecking™ and tap-tempo from the face of the Rubberneck™ itself.  Another negative is that this version of the Tr!ple will likely not work with anything other than the Rubberneck™.  I told you this stuff is niche!

Tw!n

This is very simply a small version of a TRS channel or verb/trem amp switcher.  While I built this is specifically for my Vox™ amplifiers, it will work like other TRS switches.  Other amps may have different requirements.  Orange™ for instance, they require two outputs instead of TRS.  If you would like an Orange™ compatible switch, contact me and I’ll build a custom version for the same price.  For Vox™ amps, the LED’s in the Tw!n are coded Red for Reverb, and Yellow for Tremolo.  Cole came up with the following mnemonic:  Redverb and Tremyello.  The laser-etched graphics on the Tw!n were inspired by deco frond/leaf patterns, but admittedly it looks like zebra stripes, still cool, but zebra stripes.  The Tw!n has 1/4” and 1/8” TRS outputs in parallel so you can choose which size cable you want to use.

These are just the first in a series of various accessories.  I’ve always enjoyed coming up with various helpful doodads (the Pick Shaker for example), so M!N!M!M isn’t about changing the world, it’s about changing your gig.
